Foxes
Of all the various birds and animals I've had the opportunity to photograph, fox kits have been my absolute favorite subject by far. While mom and dad are out hunting, watching fox kits venture out of their den to explore and play is nothing short of endless entertainment and cuteness overload. It's easy to smile when looking at these pictures, they still make me laugh years later.
Unfortunately due to the explosion of social media and the increase in affordable camera equipment, the area I used to go to for these adorable kits has become overrun by eager, irresponsible photographers in recent years. Unfortunately I can't ethically rationalize continuing to photograph them when they are being constantly pestered and habituated to large groups of people. I haven't been back since 2016 - and if/until I find another den somewhere else with no people around, where the risk of disturbing these sweet animals is minimal to none, these may be the last of my fox photos. In the meantime, enjoy the memories below when these animals could enjoy a more peaceful time growing up.
