About ZzMy love for animals started at an early age. I blame most of this obsession on my grandfather, who had multiples of just about every animal you could own (and some you probably couldn't). Every visit to see him was also a visit with dogs, birds both exotic and native, dozens of deer and various other backyard critters. At the age of six he got me the NatGeo book "Wild Animals of North America" - I remember being completely fascinated by the photos of animals in that book, particularly the marine mammals. It grew into a passion, and I spent much of the next decade trying to learn everything I could about whales, dolphins, and the natural world around me.
I grew up partly in California, so when we moved to the Pacific Northwest 20 years ago I was in complete awe of the landscape. The beautiful mountains, the gorgeous greenery, the Puget Sound and ocean beaches - It felt like I was finally in the midst of that NatGeo book I loved as a kid. Photographing since 2012, I have found a way to channel my passion for nature and wildlife so that others may also feel a part of these intimate moments. I hope to encourage others to care about these animals and the land they inhabit through my images; we are all stewards of our environment and these animals are extremely sensitive to our impact. The better we care for them and our environment, the longer these creatures will be around for us to enjoy and inspire for years to come. |
